MEET DR. LEHMAN-GRIMES“Dr. Shawn,” as the patients call him, recently purchased Springfield Orthodontics and Waverly Orthodontics from his father, Dr. Marlin Grimes, who served the Springfield/Robertson County community for 25 years. Continuing and improving upon the family legacy, Dr. Shawn strives to provide the most detail-oriented treatment to his patients in an inviting and comfortable office atmosphere. Dr. Shawn started his academic career by graduating from Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, TN. From there, Dr. Shawn attended Emory University in Atlanta, GA, where he focused on both a pre-med curriculum and art curriculum. After earning a B.A. in Art History, Dr. Shawn graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center Dental College. Dr. Shawn distinguished himself in dental school with multiple awards and recognitions, including Dental School Award of Excellence 2001, 2002 and the Doris Costello Bowyer Memorial Leadership Award, just to name a few. Along with academic achievements, Dr. Shawn served the dental community as student president of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), where he dealt with numerous political figures (Harold Ford Jr., Ac Warton) and issues, such as state funding in higher education and the patients bill of rights. Dr. Shawn stayed in Memphis at UTHSC to receive his M.D.S. degree and orthodontic training. His clinical training resulted in his earning his orthodontic degree, while his research culminated in his thesis: Temporomandibular Disorder and Analysis of Mandibular Motion. After more than a decade of higher education, Dr. Shawn decided to return to his hometown and continue the family legacy. Springfield Orthodontics has continued its commitment to the Robertson County community by sponsoring numerous youth groups in Whitehouse, Greenbrier, Pleasant View and Springfield. Dr. Shawn and his wife, Mayra, live in the historic district in Springfield with their dog, Piojo. In his free time, Dr. Shawn enjoys traveling, golfing, fishing, UT football and Predators hockey. Dr. Shawn is also one of the limited number of ABO – American Board of Orthodontics certified orthodontists in middle Tennessee. |
